Yun-Hang Cho is a Trainee Patent Attorney at Marks & Clerk’s Oxford office, specialising in intellectual property strategies for advanced technologies across the space, robotics, energy, and manufacturing sectors. With expertise in areas such as launchers, propulsion, in-orbit servicing, and in-situ resource utilisation, Yun works closely with clients to help protect and maximise the value of their inventions.
Yun holds a PhD on remote sensing and numerical simulation of open channel flows from the University of Sheffield in collaboration with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research in Singapore, as well as a first-class bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He has also participated in specialised training programmes at ESA Academy, Caltech, and Tsinghua University. Before joining Marks & Clerk, Yun worked as a Senior Space Robotics Engineer at Growbotics Space Ltd, focusing on sustainable satellite technologies, and led Space Sector Engagement at the High Value Manufacturing Catapult’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre.
Beyond his professional practice, Yun has served on boards supporting regional space clusters and acted as an external reviewer for the UK Space Agency. A recipient of the Royal Academy of Engineering's Advanced Leadership Award, he brings a unique blend of technical knowledge, industry insight, and leadership to his work, helping businesses, universities, and individuals deploy effective IP strategies to succeed in competitive markets.
